ANALISA KESALAHAN GRAMATIKAL DALAM MEMBUAT KALIMAT-KALIMAT SEDERHANA MENGGUNAKAN BAHASA INGGRIS

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Tujuan dari peneliatian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) pemahaman mahasiswa dalam membuat kalimat sederhana berpola simple present tense, (2) jenis-jenis kesalahan gramatikal yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dalam membuat kalimat sederhana berpola simple present tense, (3) kesalahan gramatikal yang umumnya terjadi dalam membuat kalimat sederhana berpola simple present tense. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester pertama, kelas B sore, program studi matematika. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes tertulis dan interview. Pengumpulan data dilakukan tiga bagian. Pada bagian pertama, mahasiswa diminta untuk menjawab test tertulis, pada bagian kedua, mahasiswa diminta mengarang tentang kegiatan sehari-hari mereka menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Kemudian pada bagian ketiga, mahasiswa diminta menceritakan secara lisan tentang kegiatan sehari-hari mereka menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Berdasakan penelitian tersebut ditemukan bahwa: setelah mahasiswa diberi penjelasan lagi tentang kalimat berpola simple present tense, maka diperoleh 32 mahasiswa dari 42 mahasiswa (65%) yang dapat membuat membuat kalimat-kalimat sederhana berpola simple present tense secara tepat. Kesalahan gramatikal yang umumnya dilakukan oleh mahasiswa yaitu overgeneralization dan incomplete application of rules.
