Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui penguasaan kosakata mahasiswa semester II Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif. Populasi adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester II Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IKIP PGRI Pontianak tahun akademik 2015-2016 yang berjumlah 126 orang. Sampel diambil dengan teknik sampel jenuh. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan pengukuran melalui tes. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan kosakata mahasiswa semester II tergolong “Cukup†dengan nilai 70,15. Perolehan nilai tersebut disebabkan oleh kurangnya motivasi mahasiswa dalam belajar kosakata, mahasiswa juga kurang berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar, mahasiswa tidak mempunyai kamus bahasa Inggris yang layak. Dosen hanya menggunakan papan tulis dan spidol sebagai media dikarenakan LCD proyektor tidak bisa digunakan (rusak) sehingga pengajaran kosakata jadi monoton.
