PENERAPAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KARAKTER TANGGUNG JAWAB DAN KEMAMPUAN KOGNITIF SISWA

Rendahnya karakter tanggung jawab dan kemampuan kognitif akan menghambat siswa dalam mengembangkan semua potensi yang dimilikinya untuk memperoleh suatu informasi yang lebih bermakna dan membekas dalam ingatan. Oleh karenanya, dilakukan penelitian untuk meningkatkan karakter tanggung jawab dan kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 12 Banjarmasin. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis dan McTaggart, setiap siklus meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan/pengamatan, dan refleksi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan tes. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Temuan instrumen penelitian dari siklus I ke siklus II yaitu: (1) Rata-rata tingkat tanggung jawab siswa pada siklus I dan siklus II meningkat dari 68,78% (tinggi) menjadi 79,24% (tinggi); dan (2) Kemampuan kognitif siswa secara klasikal pada siklus I dan siklus II meningkat dari 82,61% (tuntas) menjadi 100% (tuntas). Diperoleh simpulan bahwa model discovery learning dapat meningkatkan karakter tanggung jawab dan kemampuan kognitif siswa.
