Publication Ethics

Jurnal Pendidikan Informatika dan Sains (SAINTEK) is committed to upholding the integrity of the entire publication process and ensuring adherence to high ethical standards in scholarly publishing. These ethical guidelines are based on the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and encompass the responsibilities of editors, authors, and reviewers.

  1. Responsibilities of Editors
  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for the final decision on whether a manuscript will be published. This decision should be based on the validity of the work, its contribution to the field, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial board members, as appropriate.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the express written consent of the author.
  1. Responsibilities of Authors
  • Reporting Standards: Authors should present an accurate account of the research they conducted and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the manuscript.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that any work or words of others are appropriately cited. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
  • Multiple or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit manuscripts that essentially describe the same research to more than one journal or primary publication.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors should always give proper acknowledgment of the work of others that has contributed to their research and cite publications that have influenced their work.
  • Authorship of the Paper: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  1. Responsibilities of Reviewers
  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with the author, may also help the author improve their manuscript.
  • Confidentiality: Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. It must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be expressed clearly with supporting arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the paper.
  1. Actions Against Ethical Misconduct
  • If ethical misconduct is discovered either before or after publication, SAINTEK will take appropriate action, including but not limited to issuing corrections, retractions, or removal of articles, and reporting the misconduct to the relevant institutions of the authors or reviewers involved.

By adhering to these guidelines, Jurnal Pendidikan Informatika dan Sains (SAINTEK) aims to maintain the highest ethical standards in all aspects of publication.
